John Julius Henderson:  Through the kindness of the Henderson family, the Society was allowed to take photos of the private cemetery. From other sources it has been determined that John Julius Henderson and Susan Jackson Henderson [married in 1887] came to the Permian Basin in 1889 and began ranching West of Odessa near the Historic Crater.  John Julius Henderson was born in Arkansas.  It is not known whether he visited other parts of Texas prior to coming to Ector County.  His sister Annie married Homer Henderson [a distant relative].  Homer was the  brother of Marvin Floyd Henderson. Homer and Annie established a ranch in Crane County and died without issue.

Marvin  Floyd Henderson:  He came to West Texas  from the Floresville, Texas area in 1907 where he was born in 1885. He settled on a ranch West of Penwell. He married Lois  Dunne whose family arrived in 1906.  At the present time (2009), this family has ranch holdings near Notrees.  There is a cemetery near the ranch house with the grave of  a loyal and respected cowhand (Blackie Robertson)  protected by a marker in a fenced area. The Society is  grateful to the Henderson  family for allowing photos to have been taken.
