How To Copy your Floppy
Disk {FROM INTERNET}
I did a search on the Internet and
found this explanation.
Your can do the same thing to solve problems.
There are a number of ways to copy a floppy disk but if you want to
transfer files from one disk to another please use this procedure:
1. Put your source disk (the disk with the files to be copied) into the
disk drive.
2. Double click on the [My Computer] icon on your desktop.
3. Double click on the 3 1/2 floppy (A:) to open your disk.
4. Select all the files on the disk by choosing Select All from
the Edit menu. This will highlight all the files.
5. Right click on one of the highlighted files and choose Copy
from the menu. This doesn't actually copy the files yet, it tells the
computers what files you want to copy.
6. Close the 3 1/2 floppy window and double click on the Local Disk (c:)
icon to open it.
7. Double click on your student folder (S: drive) to open it. This is
where you will store your files temporarily.
8. Right click on the white space in the folder and choose [Paste]. This
will copy your files from the floppy disk to the student folder. From
here we will then copy them back to a new disk. Please do not
continue until the light has gone out on the floppy.
9. If not already highlighted, select all the files in the folder by
choosing Select All from the Edit menu. This will highlight all the
files.
10. Right click on one of the highlighted files and choose Copy from the
menu. Again, this doesn't actually copy the files yet.
11. Put in the target disk (the disk you want to copy the files to).
12. Right click on one of the highlighted files and choose [Send To] and
then [3 1/2 floppy A:]. The highlighted files will then be copied to the
target disk. Once the light goes out on the floppy your disks have been
copied.
Fragile!
Floppy disks are easily damaged. One regular problem with disks is that
they are quickly pulled out of the drive. There is a metal plate on the
disk which can catch in the drive and if pulled out too quickly this
plate will bend or even break off. Only the slightest bend can render a
floppy unreadable so please be careful.
They are also easily damaged by magnetic fields so please keep them away
from TVs, mobile phones and even the magnetic clips on some purses.
